Ulun Danu – Tanah Lot Tour

bedugul11This trip might will be the higlight of your trip, as this tour is visiting the most panoramic temples and landscape in Bali. the drive through small village relatively flat rice field country.  As we climb higher into the mountains the rice plots become smaller and terraced on the mountainside.

The first stop is the Royal Temple of Mengwi, Pura Taman Ayun from the date of 1634.  This picturesque temple complex is surrounded by moat, and has multi roofed shrines and intricately carved wooden gates. You can enjoy the nice tropical garden set above the main temple area. you can climb up to one of the building to see the panoramic view from top.

Our journey continues to Pacung while we enjoy the spectacular surrounding view of southtern part of Bali.  In the mountains, the vegetation changes along the way, you will see cabbages, maize and potatoes being grown.  As we climb higher, the countryside changes again to alpine, with mosses, creepers and ferns.

Serene Lake Beratan fills the ancient crater of Mount Batukaru.  Here the local people honor the Goddess of the waters (Lake), Dewi Danu.  The delightful small temple of Ulun Danu dedicated to this Goddess, is built on a small promontory on the lake. This temple is one of the most important for Subak (water irrigation system organization) as local believe that all the water is coming from the lake.

a stop at Pacung area will be made for the local feast lunch overlooking nice mountain panorama. After lunch we make our way down the mountain to butterfly park, and Last stop is Tanah Lot Temple, one of Bali’s most famous temples. Although this place is bit crowd the sunset from temple area is worth to see.  This 16th century temple is built on black lava rock 200 meters off shore.  Tide permitting, you can walk across the beach to the temple.
